Camp Freedom and Camp Freedom 2.0 are a unique 4-day overnight summer camp designed especially for teens and adults living with spina bifida in Western Canada. We have dedicated counsellors and nurses to assist our campers to have an amazing summer camp experience.

Camp Freedom was founded in 2000. Each year, we host between 30-40 teens and adults who are living with spina bifida in Western Canada. The camp is facilitated exclusively by qualified volunteers including a Camp Director. The goal of Camp Freedom is to promote personal independence in a safe, social, and teen-focused atmosphere. It is held at the fully accessible Camp HeHoHa on Lake Isle, one hour west of Edmonton, AB.

Camp holds a number of great adaptive activities for campers such as:

  • Swimming
  • Crafts
  • Trying a new adapted sport such as wheelchair Basketball, roller sledge, wheelchair rugby
  • Dance
  • Games
  • Barge Ride
  • Canoes and paddle boats
  • Campfire
  • Mini golf
  • And more!

The early bird registration fee is $395 before April 30th. Regular registration fee is $495.
All registrations and medical forms must be received by June 1st.

No one will be denied attendance at camp due to financial difficulty, please contact our office if you need to apply through our member support fund. Also check with your FSCD worker to see about getting summer camp fees added to your contract.
