SBHANA offers a support fund of up to $1,000 a year for individuals with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus. The support fund assists with the expenses resulting from the fact that the person has spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus.
SBHANA newsletter is delivered to our members via Constant Contact . Each newsletter is full of information about upcoming events, volunteer requests, member accomplishments, opportunities, stories, photos from social events, book reviews, and useful information.
Toddler Wheelchair Lending Program
At this time the Toddler Wheelchair Program is not lending out any toddler wheelchairs due to the age and condition of the current chairs.
Toddler-sized wheelchairs are available to lend to families who are in the process of getting their child a wheelchair. A toddler-sized wheelchair is a great way to encourage independence, allow for eye-to-eye peer contact, and build wheelchair skills.
SBHANA hosts a summer BBQ and a Christmas party. These social events are a great way to meet others who have had similar experiences, meet new individuals with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus, and have a fun time!
Camp Freedom & Camp Freedom 2.0
Each summer, SBHANA organizes and holds a four day camp for teens aged 12-19 and new to the camp experience is Camp 2.0 for adults at Camp He Ho Ha. Some of the camp activities include: swimming, crafts, basketball, dance, games, campfire, mini golf, canoes, and paddle boats!
Member Education Fund
This fund provides SBHANA members with the opportunity to further their education and understanding of spina bifida and hydrocephalus through the attendance of national or international conferences. Preference is given to SBHAC Conferences.
An informative resource binder is available for free for SBHANA members or $10 for schools. The manual contains information about spina bifida and hydrocephalus, classroom accommodations, learning difficulties, and effective teaching methods.
Please contact the office for more information.
We have two scholarships available each year for students with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus who are pursuing post‑secondary education. Each scholarship has a value of $1000.
